Challenge
Lighting was constantly on. A store manager had put in a request to the facility maintenance group to turn on the lights overnight for inventory work to be conducted. Facility Maintenance set the store lights in “always on” override and neglected to reset the store to normal operation. Staff was unaware the lights were on all night past the requested time.
Solution
An automated report was generated and sent to facility maintenance indicating unusually high overnight energy consumption. Facility maintenance anticipated this for one night but found it had carried over to the next night as well. Receiving the WattShaver energy report prompted the facility maintenance group to reset the forgotten lighting override back to normal operation.
Savings
Utilizing the WattShaver System with a smart energy monitor ensured this event was recognized before it became a costly maintenance issue. Several months could have passed before anything was noticed resulting in an excess of $5k to $10k before the issue was identified and resolved.
